Spreadsheets

Beta: Excel upload is currently in beta. Google Sheets integration is fully supported.

Display spreadsheet data on your screens. Upload an Excel file or connect Google Sheets — data can be shown as a styled table or as page images, depending on how you want it presented.

Spreadsheet sources

What it looks like on a display

Spreadsheets have two display modes:

Data table mode (default)

Section titled “Data table mode (default)”

Your spreadsheet data is parsed and displayed as a clean, styled table with headers and rows. You can choose which columns to show and rename them for the display.

Image rotation mode

Each sheet page is rendered as an image and displayed as a slideshow — useful for heavily formatted spreadsheets where the visual layout matters.

Adding a spreadsheet

Step 1 — Add to the Documents tab

All spreadsheets — whether from Google Sheets or an uploaded Excel file — are managed in the Documents tab first:

  1. Go to Content and open the Documents tab.
  2. In the Spreadsheets section, click Connect Google to link a Google Sheet, or click Upload to upload an XLS or XLSX file.

Step 2 — Create a content source

Once the spreadsheet appears in the Documents tab:

  1. Click Add New in Content Hub.
  2. Select Spreadsheets.
  3. Under Select Spreadsheet, choose the file you connected or uploaded.
  4. Choose a render mode and configure settings, then save and add to your playlist.

Data table settings

Columns Which columns to display (filter out unnecessary data)
Column mappings Rename and format columns for display
Max rows Maximum number of rows shown
Show headers Display column headers
Alternate row colors Zebra-stripe rows for readability
Sheet index Which sheet tab to read from

Image rotation settings

Page duration How long each page stays on screen
Fit mode Fill, fit width, or fit height

Tips

Section titled “Tips”
  • Use data table mode for simple, structured data (price lists, schedules, inventories) — it’s cleaner and more readable.
  • Use image rotation mode for visually complex spreadsheets with charts, merged cells, or custom formatting.
  • Column mappings let you show friendly names on screen while keeping the original column headers in your source file.
  • For live-updating data, Google Sheets is the best option — edit once and displays update automatically.
