Tasks

Tasks let you display to-do lists and task boards on your screens. Connect task sources like Google Tasks or create tasks directly in the app, and they all appear in a single unified view.

Tasks appear as a scrollable list showing task names, due dates, and completion status. You can switch between list, card, kanban, and compact display formats depending on how much space you have and how you want tasks organized.

BrandCast supports the following task sources:

Source How it connects
Google Tasks Google account OAuth
Manual List Created directly in BrandCast

You can connect multiple sources at once — tasks from all providers appear together.

  1. Navigate to Content in the sidebar (URL: /admin/content).
  2. Click the Tasks tab.
  3. Click Add Source and choose Google Tasks (to sync from your Google account) or Manual List (to type tasks directly).
  4. Follow the prompts and save.
  1. In the Hub tab, click Add New and select Tasks.
  2. Under Task Lists, pick the sources you connected.
  3. Configure display options (see below).
  4. Save and add to your playlist.

The config notes: “Manage your tasks in the Tasks tab.”

Setting Description
Task Lists Which connected sources to include
Max Tasks Maximum number of tasks shown (default 20)
Sort By Due Date, Title, Position, or Last Updated
Group By None, By Task List, By Due Date, or By Status
Show Completed Whether to display finished tasks

The Tasks display renders as a List View by default, showing task names sorted by due date. Additional format options may appear in the content item settings.

  • Connect multiple task sources to get a complete view of what needs doing.
  • Use the “group by list” option to visually separate tasks from different sources.
  • Set completed tasks to auto-hide after a few hours so the display stays focused on what’s left.
  • For break room displays, use the list format — it’s the easiest to scan at a glance.

Tasks aren’t appearing. Check that the connected task source has active tasks. If using Google Tasks, verify the connection is still active in Account > Connections. Use the Refresh button on the content item to force an update.

Completed tasks keep showing. Turn off Show completed in settings, or reduce the Completed display duration to a shorter window.

Tasks are out of order. Change the Sort By setting. Due Date sorting puts urgent tasks first.
