Google Sheets
Connect a Google Sheet to your display and show live data as a clean, formatted table. The table updates automatically whenever you change your spreadsheet — no manual refreshing needed.
How to set it up
Section titled “How to set it up”- Go to Content and open the Documents tab. In the Spreadsheets section, click Connect Google to link your Google account and import a Google Sheet.
- Once the sheet appears in the Documents tab, click Add New in Content Hub.
- Select Spreadsheets.
- Under Select Spreadsheet, choose the Google Sheet you connected.
- Choose which sheet tab to display, then click Create.
Selecting your data
Section titled “Selecting your data”| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Sheet tab | Which tab in the spreadsheet to show |
The entire sheet is displayed. Use the column settings to hide columns you don’t want shown on screen.
How it looks on screen
Section titled “How it looks on screen”Your data displays as a table with:
- The first row used as column headers
- Alternating row colors for readability
- Text sized to fit the display zone — BrandCast automatically scales the content so it fills the available space without overflowing
Cell colors and formatting from your spreadsheet carry through: bold text, colored cells, and number formats (currency, percentages, dates) all appear on the display.
Content ideas
Section titled “Content ideas”Sales leaderboard — Rep names, sales totals, and ranks. Update the sheet and the display reflects it immediately.
Menu pricing — Items, descriptions, and prices. Change a price in the sheet and the display updates within minutes.
KPI dashboard — Key metrics updated by formulas in your sheet, always showing the latest numbers.
Wait times or queue lengths — Any number your team manually updates or that comes from a connected formula.
Auto-sync
Section titled “Auto-sync”Spreadsheet data refreshes automatically. Click Refresh Now on the content item for an immediate update.
- Use a dedicated sheet tab just for display data. This keeps your working data separate from what’s shown on screen.
- Formulas work great here — totals, rankings, and conditional values all calculate in Google Sheets and display as their final values.
- Conditional formatting (like red for negative numbers, green for goals met) carries through to the display.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”Data isn’t displaying. Check that your Google account is connected in the Documents tab (Content Hub). Verify the spreadsheet sharing is set to “Anyone with the link can view” or that it’s shared with your connected account.
Wrong data is showing. Open the content settings and check the sheet tab. Make sure you’re pointing to the right tab in the spreadsheet.
Sync seems behind. Click Refresh Now on the content item. If it’s still stale, check your internet connection and verify the spreadsheet still exists.
